Bills Corner Stephon Gilmore Holds First Youth Football Camp Back in his Hometown

It is always good to go home.  NFL cornerback Stephon Gilmore got to experience that feeling last week when he took his youth football camp for the first time to Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The one-day camp last Wednesday, presented by The Stephon Gilmore Foundation, was free for boys and girls from the ages of 10-15.  It was held at his alma mater, South Pointe High School.

Gilmore got former South Carolina teammate Jadeveon Clowney to join him along with another local prep star turned NFL corner, Jonathan Joseph.  In addition, several other former Gamecocks standouts joined in on the instruction.

Not many players have stood out at USC in recent years like Gilmore did.  He started as a true freshman and was a two-time first-team All-SEC pick.

Gilmore’s legend began however at South Pointe, where he also played quarterback and led the school to their first state championship in 2008.  That season he was South Carolina’s Mr. Football while winning All-State and All-American honors.

The Buffalo Bills ensured Gilmore would reach his ultimate dream when they drafted him tenth overall in the 2012 NFL Draft.  Since, he has been a part of a consistently improving Buffalo defense that is looking to do even more damage in 2015 under first-year head coach Rex Ryan.
