Carolina Panthers Kicker Graham Gano Gives Credit to God for his Success

Through an interesting journey in the NFL, Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano has always kept the faith.  He recently sat down with Christian Post contributor Bryce Johnson on the syndicated show UNPACKIN to share what being a Christian meant to him and to talk more about the Panthers undefeated season.

Graham says that he recently has been taking more opportunities to speak and share his testimony.  He says that he has always leaned on God during the trying times in his career.

After growing up going to church in Pensacola, Florida, legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden helped Gano become stronger in the faith while he was kicking for the Seminoles.  Ever since, he has been on a steady path to becoming one of the NFL's best kickers.

Gano has been particularly impactful in 2015 for undefeated Carolina.  He has hit two game-winning kicks and was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month after leading the league in points for November.

Gano has been with the Panthers since 2012 after three season with the Washington Redskins.  The Baltimore Ravens originally signed him out of FSU in 2009, but he was cut in training camp and had to play his way back into the league by kicking in the now-defunct United Football League.

The confidence Gano gained during his tenure with the Seminoles proved paramount.  In his final collegiate season, he was a first-team All-ACC pick and captured the Lou Groza Award as the best kicker in the nation.
