Cavs Forward Tristan Thompson Hosts Basketball Camp in Cleveland

Fresh off a trip to the NBA Finals and a strong postseason showing, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Tristan Thompson is generating a lot of buzz.  The restricted free agent to be put all the publicity aside this past week however to host his youth basketball camp.

Thompson hosted a three-day camp Monday-Wednesday at Life Time Fitness outside of Cleveland.  From 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each day, kids from preschool to the eighth grade got trained in basketball fundamentals.

The campers also got to interact with Thompson and collect autographs.  They got nutrition and life tips as well to help them achieve well-rounded success.

With Kevin Love out for most of the playoffs, Thompson stepped his game up.  The fourth-year forward averaged 9.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while making 15 starts in the Cavs run to the Finals.

Thompson is known as one of the best offensive rebounders in the league.  Prior to Cleveland’s acquisition of Love, he had started 82 games each of the last two seasons.

As the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Toronto native has helped lead a wave of great Canadian players entering the league.  Thompson played one season collegiately at Texas, where he was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
