ESPN Host Jemele Hill Keynotes Greater Portland Black History Festival

The city of Portland, Oregon will host their Black History Festival over the month of February. The event is the first of its kind in the state and many events will be hosted at the World Stage Theatre. 

One of those occasions is a conference featuring ESPN host Jemele Hill. The main event of the Black History Festival NW is a performance of Who I Am Celebrating Me. 

Hill has recently been an outspoken voice against America's political climate. As a member of the media, she should have a unique perspective on how these issues affect African-Americans. 

Hill is a Sportscenter anchor for the nightly 6 p.m. show, SC6 with Michael & Jemele. She previously teamed with veteran sports commentator Michael Smith on the ESPN2 program, His & Hers

Hill started with ESPN as a columnist for ESPN.com in 2006. She previously spent two years working as a columnist at the Orlando Sentinel. 

Hill began her journalism career working at the Detroit Free Press and the Raleigh News & Observer. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University.
