First Full-Time Female NFL Referee Sarah Thomas Speaks at Delta College Next Month

As the NFL's first full-time referee, Sarah Thomas has inspired women everywhere to chase their dreams. Next month, she will bring her message to a special crowd at Delta College. 

Thomas is taking part in the Delta College President's Speaker Series. Her presentation is at 10 a.m. on February 7th at the Delta College Lecture Theater. 

The title of Thomas' talk is "BLITZ - Empowering Women Through Sports." Following the speech, Thomas will participate in a question and answer session with the audience. 

Thomas was originally hired by the NFL in 2015. The hat, whistle and flag from her first game are currently on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. 

Thomas also holds the unique distinctions of being the first woman to officiate a major college football game and a bowl game. She served as a referee in Conference USA starting in 2009 and worked the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in 2009. 

Thomas began her career with the Gulf Coast Football Officials Association in 1996. She was an Academic All-American in basketball at the University of Mobile.
