Former Chicago Bears Cornerback Charles Tillman Speaks at Best of Central Illinois Preps Awards Gala

Charles Tillman is one of the more beloved former Chicago Bears players in recent memory. He received a great reception last night as the featured speaker at The Journal Star Best of Central Illinois Preps awards gala.

The event took place at 6:30 at the Peoria Civic Center. Journal Star athletes and players of the year in various high school sports from the year were recognized.

There were also a handful of new awards handed out, including athletes, coach and team of the year. The sold-out gala was a great experience for all involved.

Tillman spent 12 of his 13 NFL seasons with the Bears and helped them reach Super Bowl XLI. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and a first-team All-Pro in 2012.

Tillman holds the Chicago franchise career records with 36 interceptions and nine defensive touchdowns. He was also a passionate humanitarian throughout his tenure and he was named the NFL Man of the Year in 2013.

The Bears originally selected Tillman in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was a four-year starter at cornerback in college for Louisiana-Lafayette.
