Former Clemson Quarterback Tajh Boyd Keynotes The Greenville News Upstate Sports Awards

Since graduating from Clemson University, former quarterback Tajh Boyd has become a valued part of the Greenville, South Carolina community. Last night, he was the keynote speaker at The Greenville News Upstate Sports Awards.

The ceremony took place at 6 p.m. at McAlister Auditorium on the campus of Furman University. There were 500 high school athletes from 22 different sports that were honored.

Boyd discussed both his triumphs and failures with the crowd. A portion of the proceeds raised benefit Coaches 4 Character, a non-profit that promotes scholarship and personal achievement for young people in the area.

Boyd was instrumental in this recent resurgence for Clemson football. In his first season as a starter, the Tigers won the Atlantic Coast Conference as he threw for 3,828 yards and 33 touchdowns.

The next year, Boyd was the 2012 ACC Player of the Year and was named to his second All-ACC first-team. As a senior, Boyd was an All-ACC second-team pick and led Clemson to a win over Ohio State in the Orange Bowl.

Boyd set school and conference records for passing yards and passing touchdowns. After his college career came to a close, he spent a handful of seasons in the NFL and CFL.
