Former College Football Coach Bill Curry Kicks off Gulf Coast Athletic Club Speaker Series

The Gulf Coast Athletic Club kicks off their 2016 season of events tonight with a special name from the college football world.  Former head coach Bill Curry is the club's first speaker. 

Each meeting begins at 6 p.m. with a half-hour of social time.  Dinner is served at 6:30 with the speaker's presentation starting at 7:00. 

The GCAC meetings will be held at the Craft Farms clubhouse in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  Annual membership in the club is $200 and individual events may be attended for $30.  

Curry had successful careers as a coach and player.  His coaching career began at his alma mater, Georgia Tech, and he also got his first head coaching gig with the Yellow Jackets. 

Curry led Georgia Tech into the Atlantic Coast Conference before taking over Alabama.  He was a two-time Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year and won the SEC title in 1989. 

Additionally, Curry coached at Kentucky and started the football program at Georgia State.  During a ten-year pro playing career prior to coaching, he won three Super Bowls and was a two-time Pro Bowler.
