Former Football Coach Jerry Glanville Speaks at Morristown East Team Banquet

This past week, the Morristown East football team held their kickoff banquet. Former football coach Jerry Glanville made his second visit to the city to serve as speaker.

The Thursday event took place at 6 p.m. inside the East High School cafeteria. Glanville previously spoke last year in Morristown at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet.

Attendees enjoyed hearing from someone with significant experience in the game. Glanville has also often been a television analyst and he was able to bring that entertaining delivery to his presentation at the banquet.

Glanville began his coaching career in 1967 as the defensive coordinator at Western Kentucky. He rose up the ranks and eventually became a respected name in the NFL.

Glanville got his first head coaching opportunity with the Houston Oilers in 1985. He led the franchise to three straight playoff berths before taking over the Atlanta Falcons in 1990.

Glanville also had a brief career as a NASCAR racing after being tutored by Dale Earnhardt. Most recently, he was the head coach at Portland State University.
