Former Major League Pitcher Jack McDowell Speaks at Leland Hot Stove League Banquet

This weekend, attendees at the Leland Hot Stove Banquet got treated to fun stories from a former top major league pitcher. Jack McDowell was the special keynotes speaker for the 14th annual event.

It took place on Saturday at the North Brunswick High School auxiliary gymnasium. Individual tickets to attend were $25.

The mission of the Leland Hot Stove is to support baseball in the local community. In addition to McDowell's presentation, they also handed out the North Brunswick High School Player of the Year.

McDowell had a standout 13-year major league career and he is best known for the first eight years he spent with the Chicago White Sox. He was an American League All-Star each year from 1991-93.

In 1993, McDowell led the league with 22 wins and won the Cy Young Award. He went on to spend time with the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Anaheim Angels.

McDowell has spent time in coaching following his playing career and is currently the head coach of a new baseball program at Queens University of Charlotte. He has also been a member of several popular alternative rock bands.
