Former NBA Standout Charles Oakley Headlines The Marcus Campbell Future Star Basketball Camp

Charles Oakley was regularly regarded as one of the toughest players in basketball during his career.  Campers at the 15th annual Marcus Campbell Future Star Basketball Camp are hoping he brings some of his tricks of the trade with him.

Oakley is the headline instructor at the camp, which takes place at Sumter Central High School and Livingston Junior High School in Alabama July 1st-2nd.  The camp is free and is open to kids in grades 5-12.

Campbell played basketball at Alabama and overseas.  Several other former Crimson Tide standouts will join him and Oakley as instructors and speakers.

Oakley was often a defensive enforcer for postseason contending teams during his 17-year career.  He averaged 9.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Early in his career, he played with the Chicago Bulls, who were then led by a young Michael Jordan.  In 1986, Oakley was named to the All-Rookie First-Team.

He gained even greater notoriety for ten seasons with a strong New York Knicks core.  Oakley made his only All-Star team with the Knicks in 1994 and also made the NBA’s All-Defensive First-Team.
