Former NC State Basketball Coach Mark Gottfried Speaks at Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall Gala Next Month

Mark Gottfried is a respected name among basketball coaches across the country. He is scheduled to speak in Pennsylvania at the Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall gala next month.

Gottfried will address attendees on May 13th at 6 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Pocono. Other prominent names in college coaching circles like Mike Brey and Steve Lavin have spoken at the gala in previous years.

Gottfried has been a longtime supporter of the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. Tickets to attend can currently be purchased online.

For eight years, Gottfried was an assistant at UCLA and during that time the Bruins won the 1995 NCAA Championship. After that tutelage, he got a head coach opportunity at Murray State.

Gottfried guided the Racers to three straight Ohio Valley Conference titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances. He then took over the program at his alma mater, Alabama, and guided the Crimson Tide to five NCAA Tournaments in 11 seasons.

In 2011, Gottfried became the head coach at NC State. The Wolfpack were a part of March Madness in each of his first four seasons and made two trips to the Sweet 16.
