Former NFL Head Coach Sam Wyche Speaks on Football Safety

Retired NFL coach Sam Wyche is trying to do some good for the sport that he built his name on.  Wyche was in Danville, Kentucky on Saturday as part of the “Practice Like Pros” initiative.

Football coaches and players are traveling all over the country to promote safer training methods.  Wyche spoke in front of a coaches’ clinic at Centre College.

The former head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals was known as an offensive guru.  He led the Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII and has the second-most wins by any coach in franchise history.

Wyche also was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four seasons.  The Bucs drafted Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, and John Lynch under his watch, setting the stage for the best years in franchise history.

Wyche also played professionally as a quarterback for four different franchises.  His greatest mark left on the game was the increased use of the no-huddle offense.
