Former NFL Player Scott Shanle Speaks at Ouachita Speaker Series

Former NFL player Scott Shanle made a visit to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas recently. He was the closing speaker of the season for the Ouachita Speaker Series. 

Shanle talked about his love for football and the dedication it took to become a successful NFL player. He was able to several unique stories from his playing career. 

The Ouachita Speaker Series was originally launched in 2012 and brings a list of diverse speakers. It starts back again on March 21st with Dr. Arvind Singhal. 

Shanle worked his way from being a walk-on at the University of Nebraska to a three-year starter. He was on a mission to prove himself again in the professional ranks when he was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. 

After one season in St. Louis, Shanle joined the Dallas Cowboys and became a starter at linebacker during his second season. He experienced the greatest success of his career after being traded to the New Orleans Saints in 2006. 

Shanle led the Saints with 77 solo tackles during his first season. He went on to be named team Defensive MVP in 2008 and help the franchise win Super Bowl XLIV.
