Former Oklahoma Football Coach Bob Stoops Speaks at Dollar General Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon Next Month

With more free time on his hands, former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops has been making the rounds this fall making himself available for a variety of speaking engagements. This bowl season, he will be speaking at the Dollar General Bowl Mayor's Luncheon. 

The event takes place on December 22nd in Mobile, Alabama at the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center. Individual tickets are $30 per person and $300 for a table of ten. 

The Dollar General Bowl will take place two days later at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It will pit teams from the Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt conferences against each other. 

Stoops served as the Sooners head coach from 1999-2016. The team won a remarkable ten Big 12 Conference titles, won at least ten games 14 times and finished ranked in the top 25 15 times. 

In his second season in Norman, Stoops led Oklahoma to the national championship. He was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year six times and was a two-time Walter Camp Coach of the Year. 

With 190 wins, Stoops has more wins than any coach in Oklahoma history. Prior to coming to the school, he won a national title as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at the University of Florida.
