Former San Diego Padres Fan Favorite Tim Flannery Speaks at Chico American Legion Dinner in March

Tim Flannery has played important roles in the history of the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. The baseball lifer has many stories to tell and will share some of them as the speaker at the Chico American Legion Baseball Spring Fever dinner and fundraiser.

The event takes place on March 2nd at Manzanita Place inside the Elks Lodge in Chico. Former Giants star Matt Williams was the scheduled speaker before he was hired as third base coach for the Oakland Athletics.

Tickets include a tri-tip or chicken catered dinner and are $50 for adults and $35 for children. Prior to the beginning of the program, there will be an autograph session with Flannery from 5:45-6:45 p.m.

Flannery most recently was the Giants third base coach and won three World Series titles from 2007-14. He has also spent time as a broadcaster in San Fransisco and the MLB Network.

Flannery was a Padres fan favorite during an 11-year playing career that lasted from 1979-89. He helped the franchise reach the World Series in 1984 and batted .281 with 40 RBI in 1985.

After retiring as a player, Flannery spent several seasons as a coach in the San Diego minor league system. He was also a third base coach on the Padres major league staff before joining the Giants.
