Former Texas Football Coach Mack Brown Speaks at Don Nehlen Lecture Series This Spring

Former Texas football coach Mack Brown is heading to West Virginia this spring. He is the next speaker scheduled for the Don Nehlen Lecture Series.

Brown's presentation is titled, "Optimizing Performance in D1 Football: A winning collaboration between coach and sports scientist." His visit is scheduled for April 20th at 7 p.m. at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.

University of Texas professor emeritus Dr. John Ivy will also present with Brown. The Don Nehlen Lecture Series is put on by West Virginia University's College of Physical Activity and Sports Science.

Brown had four stops as a head coach, but he is best known for the last 16 years of his career spent at Texas. He led the Longhorns to the Big 12 title in 2005 and 2009 and won the 2005 BCS National Championship.

Each year his UT teams won the conference, Brown was also named Big 12 Coach of the Year. From 2001-09, his teams won at least ten games each season.

Brown also guided a downtrodden North Carolina program to three ten-win seasons and two top ten finishes. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame this year and is currently an analyst for ESPN.
