Former Texas Quarterback Major Applewhite Speaks at Brazosport Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet

Major Applewhite starred on the football field for the University of Texas and has since built his coaching career in the Lonestar State.  On Thursday, he will share stories about his journey with the Brazosport Area Chamber of Commerce.

Applewhite will speak at their 71st annual banquet at the Lake Jackson Civic Center in Lake Jackson, Texas.  The event begins with a social-cash bar at 6 p.m. and the program starts officially at 7 p.m.

Individual tickets cost $60 each.  A reserved table of 10 runs $700.

Last year, Applewhite joined the Houston program in 2015 as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.  The Cougars went on to go 13-1, win the Peach Bowl, and finish ranked eighth in the country.

Prior to arriving at UH, Applewhite coached at his alma mater for six seasons, serving as co-offensive coordinator for the last three.  He also had coaching stops at Alabama, Rice and Syracuse after starting his career as a graduate assistant at Texas.

Applewhite set 48 schools records as quarterback for the Longhorns.  He still holds the single-game passing yards mark after throwing for 473 yards in the final game of his collegiate career, a Holiday Bowl win over Washington.
