The five-time All Star was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in May of 2011, which was just over a year after his retirement in February of 2010. During his career he played 16 years with the Chicago White Sox, two years with the Oakland Athletics, and two years with the Toronto Blue Jays, and just last year he was also formally inducted as a member of the Chicago White Sox in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Currently, he is the only person who is listed as a designated hitter for his primary position in the Hall of Fame. Thomas has achieved many records playing the sport, and is in fact on a small list of people who have hit more than 500 home runs in their career while maintaining a .300 batting average, alongside big names like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle.
