Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart Keynotes Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet in December

Football season is fast approaching and preseason watch lists for a variety of awards are being released. 103 defensive standouts from across college football are included on the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.

The Football Writers Association of America also announced the keynote speaker for the season-ending Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet. Georgia football coach Kirby Smart will do the honors on December 4th at the Charlotte Convention Center.

In addition to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy being handed out, the Bronko Nagurski Legends Awards will be presented. The FWAA has been presenting the trophy since 1993.

The Bulldogs are expected to compete to win the SEC East Division in Smart's second season. UGA went 8-5 and won the Liberty Bowl during his first year at the helm of his alma mater.

Prior to arriving in Athens, Smart had coached under Nick Saban since 2004. From 2008-2015, he was Saban's defensive coordinator at Alabama.

Smart won the Broyles Award as the top assistant in college football in 2009. After a four-year career as a defensive back at Georgia, he began his coaching career as an administrative assistant at the school in 1999.
