Legendary Coach Bobby Bowden Speaks at FCA Event in Virginia

Bobby Bowden is one of the most sought-after speakers in sports.  Bowden often speaks at religious functions and did so again Thursday at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes “Dinner with a Champion” in Bluefield, Virginia.

The event was held at Fincastle on the Mountain.  Being close to West Virginia gave Bowden the opportunity to talk more about his ten-year run as a coach of the Mountaineers.

He also spoke about the impact that FCA has around the country.  Bowden said that his faith is the most important thing in the world to him.

Many athletes found great meaning in the lessons Bowden taught them over the years.  He coached 57 years, including 34 seasons at Florida State.

With the Seminoles, Bowden won two national titles and 12 Atlantic Coast Conference championships.  His 377 head coaching wins rank second in Division 1 history.

Bowden had a remarkable 14-year run where FSU never finished a season outside of the top five.  His impact extends beyond his own record however, with three of his sons having also coached in college football.

Bowden is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.  In addition to his speaking duties, he is also an accomplished author and has co-written several books about his life and philosophies.
