Matt Williams Named Speaker at the 31st Annual Bobby Dolan Baseball Dinner

Washington Nationals’ manager Matt Williams served as the keynote speaker for the 31st annual Bobby Dolan Baseball Dinner on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada.  Tickets for the event were $150 per person, which included a cocktail and social hour and a sit down dinner.

“We are honored to have Matt Williams be our speaker for the Bobby Dolan Baseball Dinner,” said University of Nevada head coach Jay Johnson prior to the event.  “Matt’s playing career and start to his managerial career speaks for itself and we could not be more excited to have one of this area’s own come back and be a big part of this great night for our program.”

Williams earned four Gold Glove Awards as a third baseman with the Diamondbacks, Indians and Giants from 1987 to 2003.  During that span he earned five All-Star selections and hit 378 homeruns.  In 2014 he was hired to manage the Nationals and led them to an NL East Championship.

Prior to making it big in Major League Baseball he played at UNLV and set a school record for homeruns.  He’s since had his No. 15 jersey retired and earned induction into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame.
