Mets Pitcher Matt Harvey Adds AXE Hair to his Endorsement Portfolio

Whether they make the postseason or not, there is no question that this year has been a coming out party for the New York Mets.  Ace pitcher Matt Harvey is back healthy and has been at the center of hoopla.

With a few years of name recognition in the country’s top TV market under his belt, the endorsement opportunities have opened up for Harvey as well.  Recently, he agreed to a deal with AXE Hair and held a special promotional event in New York City.

AXE Hair, a brand under the Unilever umbrella, has enlisted Harvey in their  “Hair Prime” campaign that shows the benefits of their various shampoos.  In addition to the new partnership, Harvey also has endorsement deals with Nike and smaller brands like Juice Press and Eleven James.

So far in 2015, Harvey is 11-7 with a 2.57 ERA and 191 strikeouts in 178.1 innings for the National League East-leading Mets.  He has made the strong bounceback despite missing the entire 2014 season recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Harvey made his big splash on the baseball scene in 2013.  He won NL Pitcher of the Month that April and parlayed the strong start to starting the All-Star Game in his home park at Citi Field.

That season, he finished 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA before the injury struck.  Harvey originally debuted for the Mets in 2012 after being the seventh overall pick of the 2010 MLB Draft out of the University of North Carolina.
