Mr. Pennsylvania High School Football Awards Names Temple Coach Matt Rhule Guest Speaker

The entire state of Pennsylvania and much of the country has taken note of the tremendous coaching job Matt Rhule has done at Temple. In February, he will share more about the success of the Owls program as the guest speaker at the Mr. Pennsylvania awards.

The ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on February 11th at the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel. It will honor the top player from classes 1A-3A and 4A-6A.

There will be five finalists from each grouping of classifications and nominations are still open till Friday. Several notable players have been recognized in recent years including current Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Noah Spence.

Rhule has made Temple a team that matters on the national level. They have won back-to-back American Athletic Conference East Division titles and will take on Navy in the AAC Championship game this Saturday.

Last year, the Owls went 10-4 and defeated state power Penn State for the first time since 1941. Rhule originally took over at Temple in 2013 and took a team that finished 2-10 in his first season to a 6-6 record the next year.

Prior to taking the head coaching job, Rhule was an assistant offensive line coach with the New York Giants for one season. He had spent the previous six years as an assistant at Temple.
