NASCAR Driver Michael McDowell Shares His Faith with California Church

In the midst of a busy NASCAR schedule, drivers still sometimes have the opportunity to give back.  Sprint Cup Series veteran Michael McDowell had that opportunity June 24th.

McDowell stopped in Lodi, California to speak at the First Baptist Church before making his way to Sonoma Raceway for that weekend’s events.  He shared the testimony of his faith and how God saw him threw a severe accident during his rookie season of 2008.

McDowell also signed autographs for those assembled and showed off some local racecars.

So far this season, McDowell has run in eight races driving the #95 car for Leavine Family Racing.  He also qualified for the season opening Daytona 500.

In eight seasons in Sprint Cup, McDowell has two career top ten finishes.  Additionally, he has 19 top tens on the Xfinity Series.

McDowell has achieved some success at lower levels of racing as well.  He was the 2007 Rookie of the Year on the ARCA ReMax Series and the 2003 Rookie of the Year for the Star Mazda Championship.
