NASCAR Great Dale Earnhardt Jr. Keynotes Washington Redskins Welcome Home Luncheon

NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s football allegiance has always been to the Washington Redskins. The lifelong fan served as the keynote speaker at the Redskins' Welcome Home Luncheon. 

Earnhardt Jr. talked about childhood memories rooting for the team and how he now checks scores before getting into his car. He also pledged to assist the Redskins Foundation in building a public school library in the D.C. area. 

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe took the stage before Earnhardt Jr. There were a variety of awards from last season handed out to Redskins players as well. 

In April, Earnhardt Jr. announced he was retiring from NASCAR after the current season. He has won 26 Cup races, including twice at the Daytona 500. 

Prior to racing in NASCAR's premier series on a full-time basis, Earnhardt Jr. was the 1998 and 1999 Busch Series champion. He had his first Cup series win at the 2000 DirectTV 500. 

For 14 straight years, Earnhardt Jr. has won NASCAR's Most Popular Driver Award. He is the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer, Dale Sr.
