NBA Legend Charles Barkley Wows in Fourth Appearance Hosting Saturday Night Live

Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has built a successful second career as one of the most entertaining personalities and thoughtful commentators in sports. There was no surprise when Barkley drew rave reviews as the host of Saturday Night Live this weekend.

It was his fourth appearance hosting the iconic program. He started with an opening monologue that stressed the importance of athletes speaking their minds about important issues.

Barkley played a public show host, game show contestant and a few other characters while participating in the SNL sketches. Former baseball star and fellow broadcaster Alex Rodriguez also made an appearance in one of the skits.

Barkley has been dazzling audiences as a co-host on TNT's Inside the NBA since 2000. He had a 16-year NBA career where he established himself as one of the greatest players in league history.

Barkley was a dominant power forward at both ends of the court despite being considered undersized for the position. He was an  11-time All-Star and ten-time member of the All-NBA first or second team.

As a rookie, Barkley helped the Philadelphia 76ers reach the Eastern Conference Finals. He led the Phoenix Suns to the NBA Finals in 1993 and was named MVP of the league that season.
