New Charlotte Hornets Guard Malik Monk Makes Appearances Back in Lexington This Weekend

New Charlotte Hornets guard Malik Monk has been making preparations for the beginning of his NBA career. He did take time this weekend to reconnect with fans from the University of Kentucky.

Monk was in Lexington for this week's John Calipari UK Pro Camp. He held three separate autograph signing appearances, beginning with a Friday visit at Barleycorn's in Cold Spring from 6-7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Monk began his day at the Campus Wearhouse in Simpsonville from noon to 1:30 p.m. He concluded the events with an appearance that lasted until 7-8:30 p.m. at the Fayette Mall's Allsports.

Monk led all Wildcats in scoring as a freshman, averaging 19.8 points per game last season. He was named the SEC Player of the Year and the SEC Freshman of the Year.

Monk was also a consensus second-team All-American. During a December game against North Carolina, he set a UK freshman single-game record with 47 points.

Coming out of Bentonville High School, Monk was a consensus five-star recruit. The Hornets made him the 11th overall pick in this summer's NBA Draft.
