New York Giants Running Back Rashad Jennings Named Commencement Speaker at Alma Mater

New York Giants Rashad Jennings is returning to a place this spring where he set many records.  Jennings will be the commencement speaker at his alma mater, Liberty University, on May 14th.

The ceremony will take place in Williams Stadium beginning at 10 a.m.  Jennings graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and sport management.

He is also a native of the Lynchburg, Virginia area who attended Liberty Christian Academy.  A story of success from the ultimate hometown kid should be quite the point of inspiration for the graduates.

During his three-year college career, Jennings set Big South Conference records with 3,633 rushing yards, 42 touchdowns, and a 5.7 yards per carry average.  The Flames won their first two conference titles in program history with him running the ball.

Despite his college success,  Jennings had to defy the odds to carve out his successful NFL career.  The Jacksonville Jaguars originally selected him in the seventh round of the 2009 Draft.

Jennings spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars.  He is coming off his best season with the Giants, rushing for 863 yards and three touchdowns.
