Oklahoma Coach Bob Stoops Speaks at the Sooner Caravan Kickoff in Tulsa

With college football season less than a 100 days away, a popular activity this time of year is various coaches’ caravan events that pop up around the country.  Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops will headline the start of the Sooner Caravan in Tulsa tonight.

The Sooner Caravan will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the grounds of the Schusterman Center on the OU-Tulsa campus.  Basketball coaches Lon Kruger and Sherri Coale will also join Stoops and the event is already sold out.

Stops in Dallas on June 4th and Oklahoma City on August 4th are a part of the Sooner Caravan as well.

Stoops is an institution at Oklahoma.  He is 168-44 in 16 seasons and has guided the Sooners to nine BCS bowl games.

OU has won eight Big 12 titles under his watch and capped an undefeated season with the program’s seventh national championship in Stoops’ second season.  There have only been three seasons that the Sooners have finished outside the top 25 with their wildly successful coach.

Stoops originally came to Oklahoma after being the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Florida for three years.  His coaching career started at his alma mater Iowa under legendary Hawkeyes coach Hayden Fry.
