Orlando Magic Rookie Elfrid Payton Hosts His First Camp in Louisiana

It was a banner rookie season for Orlando Magic point guard Elfrid Payton.  On Sunday, Payton got to return home a hero to Louisiana and host his first youth camp.

The clinic was free to kids from the ages of nine to 15 and held at the Alario Center right outside New Orleans.  There was over 100 campers who turned out to hear from Payton and several area high school coaches.

From July 27-29, he will hold a camp back in Orlando at the RDV Athletic Club.  More information and registration for that event is still available at https://isgcamps.com/elfrid-payton/.

Payton earned All-Rookie First-Team honors after averaging 8.9 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game in 2014-15.  He also led NBA rookies in assists and steals.

After the Magic made a draft night trade last June to grab Payton, he has proven to be a vital part of the future in Orlando.  At Louisiana-Lafayette, he was a two-time All-Sun Belt pick and won the Lefty Driesell Award as a junior for his outstanding defense.
