Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Singletary Looks to Influence Young People as High School Coach

Football players at Trinity Christian Academy in Dallas recently got the surprise of a lifetime. They found out that their new coach would be Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Singletary

TCA named Singletary the coach last Wednesday and said that his football background combined with his Christian values made him an ideal fit for the job. As a former NFL head coach, he also has a unique level of experience for the high school level.

Singletary is inheriting a program with a great deal of success throughout its history. TCA has won 13 state titles all-time, but the program is just 26-22 since their last championship in 2012.

Singletary will bring his signature disciplined approach and excellent skills as a motivator to the region. They are attributes that he honed over an iconic career with the Chicago Bears before going into coaching.

Singletary spent 11 seasons with the Bears and he was named to 10 Pro Bowls. In addition, he was an eight-time first-team All-Pro and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Singletary was the leader of the iconic Chicago defense that carried the team to a victory in Super Bowl XX. He retired in 1992 and began his coaching career as linebackers coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2002.

Singletary joined the San Francisco 49ers as an assitant head coach and linebackers coach in 2005. He was named interim head coach of the 49ers in 2008 and went on to spent two full seasons as the team's head coach.
