Retired NFL Defensive Lineman Demetric Evans Keynotes Independence Bowl Football Clinic

Former NFL defensive lineman Demetric Evans might see his playing days in the rearview mirror, but his time making an impact on people is far from over.  On Saturday, he served as keynote speaker for the Independence Bowl youth football clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The free clinic ran from 8-11:30 a.m. at Independence Stadium.  Over 200 kids ages 7 through 12 turned out to hear Evans speak and get some instruction on the fundamentals of football.

Evans talked extensively about the principle of teamwork.  In addition to all of that, lunch and t-shirts were provided.

Evans played nine NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers.  After joining the Redskins in 2004, he experienced his greatest level of success.

After being an unheralded free agent that offseason, Evans surprised many to make eight starts.  In 2008, he started 11 games for Washington and finished tied for second on the team with 3.5 sacks.

Evans played collegiately at the University of Georgia and went back to get his degree in 2011.  He is currently a stay at home dad and has worked with the NFL Players Assocation as a mentor.
