Retired San Francisco Giants Pitcher Jeremy Affeldt Named Keynote Speaker at American Legion Dinner

Jeremy Affeldt has pitched in his last major league game, but the 14-year veteran still has plenty to do.  Affeldt was named the keynote speaker at the 19th annual Chico American Legion Baseball Spring Fever Dinner.

The dinner is being held at Manzanita Place in Chico, California on March 4th.  Affeldt will reminisce about his big league career with the assembled crowd in addition to taking pictures and signing autographs.

More information about the event can be acquired by calling Tom Stevens at 530-518-4487 or emailing at tstev47095@aol.com

Chico is just north of where Affeldt spent the last seven years pitching for the San Francisco Giants.  With the Giants, he won three World Series titles and sported a 0.86 ERA in 31.1 postseason innings.

In those three trips to the playoffs, Affeldt had a 22 scoreless innings streak which ranks second in baseball history to Mariano Rivera.  He also recorded the win in Game 7 of the 2014 World Series after pitching two and a third innings of scoreless ball.

Affeldt was a third round pick of the Kansas City Royals in the 1997 MLB Draft.  He debuted in 2002 and spent the first five years of his career as a starter and reliever for Kansas City.
