Roberto Alomar To Speak at Okotoks Dawgs Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet

Hall of Fame second baseman Roberto Alomar will be the keynote speaker at the 2015 Okotoks Dawgs Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet on February 7, 2015.  The eighth annual banquet will take place in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada and will honor four players from the 2014 season. 

This year’s awards are as follows:

MVP:  Connor Crane, Infielder from McNeese State University
Pitcher of the Year:  Tyrell King, Pitcher from Missouri Baptist University
Rookie of the Year:  Brendan Rose, Outfielder from the University of British Columbia
True Grit Award:  Ellis Kelly, Infielder from Lamar Community College

During Roberto Alomar's 17-year major league career he earned 12 All-Star selections and won more Gold Gloves (10) than any other second baseman in baseball history.  A career .300 hitter, Alomar played for three teams from 1988 to 2004, and led the Blue Jays to back to back World Series Championships in 1992 and 1993.  In 2011 he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and is widely considered to be the best second baseman in the history of Major League Baseball.
