Standout Rookie Odell Beckham Jr. Lands the Madden NFL 16 Cover

In the social media world, whatever has the most buzz in the moment usually wins out.  Things were no different on Wednesday when New York Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was announced on SportsCenter as the new cover athlete for EA Sports’ Madden video game franchise.

Beckham Jr. won the opportunity to be the face of Madden NFL 16 with 52.5 percent of the vote over the New England Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski.  The other voting choices had been Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown and Arizona Cardinals corner Patrick Peterson

Madden NFL 16 will come out on August 25th for all gaming consoles.

After just wrapping up his rookie season, the 22-year-old Beckham Jr. is the youngest player to ever grace a Madden cover.  In 2014, he was a Pro Bowler and the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Beckham Jr. played in just 12 games, but still caught 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He really caught the eyes of the nation in Week 12 when he had a spectacular one-handed grab against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

The Giants selected Beckham Jr. 12th out of LSU in the 2014 NFL Draft.  With 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns in his final season with the Tigers, he foreshadowed the success to come.
