Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Hosts VIP Meet and Greet in his Hometown

On Friday, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was able to thrill some fans in his hometown.  Tomlin, a Newport News, Virginia native, hosted his seventh annual VIP Meet and Greet at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

The event lasted from 6:00-9:30 p.m. and all proceeds benefited the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation.  Other local stars that have gone on to NFL acclaim like Michael Vick and EJ Manuel joined Tomlin.

Tomlin’s meet and greet is an extention of the two-day Hampton Roads All-Star Football Camp that is in its 19th year.  Area high school coaches and the NFL players assembled joined forces to train around 500 kids from the ages of 8-17.

Tomlin is one of the most successful modern-day NFL coaches.  He became the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl in 2009.

In eight seasons under his watch, the Steelers have never had a losing record and Tomlin has an overall mark of 82-46.  They have been to two Super Bowls and won four AFC North crowns.

After back-to-back 8-8 seasons, any thoughts of Tomlin’s Pittsburgh tenure coming back down to earth were thrown away in 2015.  The Steelers finished 11-5 and captured another division title.
