Three-Time Super Bowl Champion Stephen Neal Speaks at Hall of Champions Signing Party

The San Diego Hall of Champions annually puts together a special event to recognize the accomplishments of local student-athletes. This year, area native and three-time Super Bowl champion Stephen Neal spoke at the college announcement and scholarship signing party.

The event was held on National Signing Day at Petco Park. There were 181 high school athletes from 15 different sports and 53 high schools who announced their college decisions.

Neal shared advice and talked to the athletes about how quickly their college experience goes. Those who signed their national letters of intent will head off to a group of 124 different colleges.

Neal won three Super Bowls over ten seasons with the New England Patriots. He was undrafted in 2001 and did not even play college football, but still went on to start over 80 games for the Patriots.

Neal's first love was wrestling. He posted a 45-2 record at San Diego High School before going on to become the greatest wrestler in Cal State Bakersfield history.

Neal won four Pac-10 heavyweight titles, two NCAA championships and racked up a 156-10 record in college. He was a perfect 34-0 in Pac-10 competition.
