Tulane Basketball Coach Mike Dunleavy Speaks at Coaches 4 Character Reception

Coaches 4 Character is a program in Greenville, South Carolina that helps at-risk students understand the importance of education. Each year, several sports greats come to speak to the group.

The next speaker on the list is Tulane University head men's basketball coach Mike Dunleavy. He will present on December 13th at 7 p.m. and also participate in a private sponsor reception 5 p.m.

Over the past ten years, over 48,000 students have taken part in Coaches 4 Character programs. WNBA star Tamika Catchings addressed the group this week.

Dunleavy took over the Green Wave program last year after an extensive history of coaching in the NBA. Most recently, he was the head coach and general manager of the Los Angeles Clippers from 2003-10.

Dunleavy experienced the greatest success of his career while head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers for four years. He led the franchise to the Western Conference Finals twice and was NBA Coach of the Year in 1999.

Dunleavy began his head coaching career with the Los Angeles Lakers and also coached the Milwaukee Bucks. He also played in 438 games with four different teams.
