Two-Time World Series Champion Roy White Named Keynote Speaker for Leland Hot Stove Banquet

The connection to the New York Yankees can be an important tie for many ex-players.  After an entire 15-year career spent in pinstripes, things have been no different for Roy White.

White is the latest in a line of several former Yankees to serve as keynote speaker at the Leland Hot Stove League Banquet.  The banquet takes place on January 16th at 6 p.m. in the North Brunswick High School Auxiliary Gymnasium in Leland, North Carolina.

Tickets to attend are $25.  Other retired Yankees that have spoken in the past include Bucky Dent, Tommy John, and Bobby Richardson.

With his debut coming in 1965 and his tenure stretching throughout the 1970s, White became a key face of a very specific time in franchise history.  He went to two All-Star games and won two World Series titles with the Yankees.

The switch-hitting White batted .271 in his career and accumulated over 1,800 hits.  He was also an excellent left fielder and led the American League in fielding percentage for four consecutive seasons from 1968-1971.

Following his days in the big leagues, White played three seasons in Japan.  He also had stints as a coach with the Yankees and in the Oakland A's minor league system.
