Yankees Legend Derek Jeter Hosts Youth Camp in Tampa June 9-12

In partnership with his Turn 2 Foundation, New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter is hosting a youth camp June 9-12 in Tampa.  The camp for kids ages 8-13 will be from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the University of South Florida.

During the sessions, all the fundamentals of baseball will be taught and lunch will be provided.  Registration for the event can be done at any Tampa Parks & Recreation community center.

Jeter has long kept a home in Tampa, site of Yankees’ spring training.  Upon his retirement last year, he went down as one of baseball’s all-time greats.

His entire 20-year career was spent in pinstripes.  Jeter won five World Series titles and hit .321 overall in the Fall Classic.

He collected over 3,000 hits and holds the Yankee hit record.  The 14-time All-Star captained New York for over a decade.

A year after debuting in the major leagues, the Turn 2 Foundation was established in 1996.  Jeter’s charity works to help children avoid substance abuse and reward those who excel in the classroom.

Even in retirement, he continues to advance the goals of his foundation.  Jeter is also active in several business interests.
