Chad Dawson Biography

Chad Dawson is a professional boxer. As an amateur, Dawson won 19 national championships as well as winning the silver in the World Championships in August 18, 2001. Soon after his successful amateur career, Dawson turned professional where he started at middleweight and moved up to super middleweight. In 2004, Dawson’s career was put on hold for six months as he tested positive for marijuana after a post-fight drug test. Dawson looked at this break as a form of motivation and helped him rise to the light heavyweight division. On June 2, 2006, Dawson defeated Eric Harding and became the new NABF Light Heavyweight Champion. At 24 years old, Dawson won the WBC Light Heavyweight title on February 3, 2007. Dawson defended the WBC belt in June 2007 when he beat Jesus Ruiz with a technical knockout in the sixth round. Dawson experienced his first loss on August 14, 2010 against Jean Pascal. In a total of 38 fights, Dawson has won 32 of them.
