Clay Guida Biography

Clay Guida is the former Lightweight Champion in the inaugural season of Strikeforce MMA organization. In 2003 he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship where he still competes today. Currently, Guida is ranked seventh in the UFC Featherweight rankings. Originally known for his relentless attacking and offensively centered attacking, the hardnosed Guida has only ever been knocked out one time. Recently, Guida has switched his fighting styles to more of a laid-back, defensive strategy and the move has not sat well with his UFC fans. Guida, otherwise known as “The Carpenter” has posted a 31-15 professional record. His best win came in The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale when he handed former #1 lightweight Anthony Pennis and is still only one of two fighters to have beaten Pennis. Although multiple threats from UFC President Dana White for his defensive and “boring” style of fighting, Guida continues to compete in mixed martial arts.
