Harold Miner Biography

Harold Miner is a retired NBA shooting guard who played four years in the NBA for the Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Miner first rose to prominence as a high school star, where he earned the nickname “Baby Jordan” for his outlandish talent and dunking abilities. Miner played collegiately at the University of Southern California, where he would earn College Basketball Player of the Year honors as well as All-American status during his 1992 junior season. Leaving after his junior season, Miner was drafted in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat with the 12th overall pick. Miner’s game did not translate over to the NBA level, and he never lived up to his enormous expectations. The only bright spot of Miner’s NBA career came in 1993 and 1995 when he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, solidifying his position as one of the game’s best dunkers. After three mediocre seasons with the Heat, Miner was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but would only play 19 games before being cut. Miner now resides in Los Angeles with his family and lives a comfortable, post-retirement life.
