Ivan Nova Biography

Ivan Nova is a professional pitcher in Major League Baseball. As a child, Nova played baseball as a shortstop and outfielder. The Boston Red Sox invited Nova to their Dominican academy to try and sign him, but since Nova was a Yankees fan he declined the offer. At 17 years old, Nova was invited by the Yankees to attend their Dominican academy. The Yankees signed Nova as an international free agent after a two-week tryout on July 15, 2004. Nova made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Yankees in 2006. Nova was promoted to the Majors on May 10, 2010 to serve as a long reliever. In 2012, Nova secured a spot on the starting rotation for the Yankees. In 2014, Nova was removed from his April 19th start due to an elbow injury. In August 2013, Nova was named AL Pitcher of the Month, and on May 29, 2013, Nova pitched an immaculate inning.
