Jonas Jerebko Biography

Jonas Jerebko is a native of Kinna, Sweden and played five seasons in Sweden and Italy prior to joining the Detroit Pistons in 2009 as a second round pick. Heading into the 2009 NBA Draft he was considered to be one of the top five European prospects due to his size and power in the paint along with his ability to run the floor in transition. With five years of prior professional experience he joined the Pistons as a veteran rookie and earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors in 2010 after averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. During his first four years with the Pistons he has averaged 7.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while serving as a valuable defensive asset down low. In 2011 Jerebko signed a four-year, $18 million deal, which will keep him in Detroit through the 2015 season. In addition to his duties in the NBA he has also continued to play for his home country of Sweden and competed in the 2013 EuroBasket.
