Laurence Maroney Biography

Laurence Maroney is a former professional running back in the National Football League. Maroney attended the University of Minnesota, where he started 14 of 36 games and still managed to become the first Golden Gopher and the third in Big Ten Conference history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons. Maroney was selected an All-American in 2005. The New England Patriots selected Maroney as the 21st overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut during the Patriots’ season opener in 2006. In week 11, Maroney received his first touchdown with a 19-yard reception. Maroney was a big factor in helping the Patriots get to Super Bowl XLII. His 2008 season was cut short due to a shoulder injury. Maroney was traded to the Denver Broncos on September 14, 2010.
