Omri Casspi Biography

Omri Casspi is a professional basketball forward for the Sacramento Kings of the NBA. Casspi’s professional career began in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2005- 06 season when he was 17. Casspi was loaned to Hapoel Galil Elyon in 2006 and he returned to Maccabi for the 2007-08 season. In 2009, Casspi helped Maccabi win the state championship; he also finished fourth in the FIBA Europe Men’s Player of the Year Award. The Sacramento Kings selected Casspi as the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Casspi made his debut with the Kings on October 28, 2009 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. On June 30, 2011, Casspi was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He then signed a multi-year deal with the Houston Rockers on July 16, 2013. The Cavs traded Casspi to the New Orleans Pelicans on July 15, 2014 and on July 23; the Pelicans waived him. Casspi returned to the Kings on September 18, 2014.
