Osi Umenyiora Biography

Osi Umenyiora is a professional outside linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL. Umenyiora attended Troy University where he played football for the Trojans. During his senior year, Umenyiora was an honorable mention All-American selection after he started every game in 2002. The New York Giants selected Umenyiora in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft. In 2005, Umenyiora earned All-Pro recognition and a trip to the Pro Bowl. Umenyiora signed a six-year contract extension for $41 million with $15 million guaranteed on December 5, 2005. Umenyiora was the 2005 NFC sacks leader and the 2005 PFWA Most Improved Player of the Year. As a Giant, Umenyiora won two Super Bowls both against the New England Patriots. On October 13, 2008, Umenyiora joined ESPN’s Monday Night Football crew. On November 5, 2010, Umenyiora was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month. On March 27, 2013, Umenyiora signed a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons worth $8.55 million.
