Paul Warfield Biography

Paul Warfield is a retired NFL wide receiver, famous for his time with the Miami Dolphins in the early 1970s. Prior to his time in the NFL, Warfield was a half back at Ohio State University, and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 1964 NFL Draft. After limited success with the Browns, Warfield joined the Miami Dolphins in 1970, where he became a key factor in their early 1970s success, including their unprecedented undefeated season in 1972. In 1974, Warfield left the Dolphins to “Chase the Money,” signing with the newly founded World Football League rather than staying with the NFL champion Miami Dolphins. He would only play one season in the WFL before returning to the NFL, but he was never the same. Warfield would play two seasons with the Cleveland Browns before retiring in 1977, ending his prolific career with 437 receptions for 8,565 yards and 85 touchdowns.
